Twitter is now making it mandatory for people to have an account in order to see tweets. Elon Musk, the owner, said this is just a temporary emergency rule.
People who want to see content on the platform will have to create a new account or log in to their current account to view their favorite tweets.
In a tweet, Mr. Musk said that our data was being stolen so much that it was causing problems for regular users of our service.
He said that many organizations or more were gathering Twitter information very aggressively, which was bad for users.
Mr Musk was nounhappyith artificial intelligence companies, like OpenAI, who use Twitter's data to train their big language models, including ChatGPT.
"We will definitely sue the people who took our information and we are excited to see them in court, but it may take around 2 to 3 years," he said.
Mr. Musk's lawyer, Alex Spiro, wrote a letter to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in May. In the letter, Spiro asked Microsoft to check how they use Twitter's content. Spiro claimed that Microsoft broke a promise about using the information from the social media company.
The company is taking action to get advertisers who left the platform when Mr. Musk took over and to make more money from subscriptions by including verification check marks in the Twitter Blue program.
Earlier this month, Twitter said it wants to improve its business by focusing on video, creators, and partnerships with companies, rather than just relying on digital ads.
Twitter is now making users pay to use its application programming interface (API), which is used by third-party apps and researchers.
