In recent years, Google has been trying to improve how Android devices and their accessories work together. The big technology company might soon bring in "Device Groups" to make it easier for Android devices to work together. Device Groups will let Android devices pass on video calls to other devices, along with its other functionalities.
Recently, the company has added new features to Android that make it easier for users to connect their devices. Before, Google made a feature that lets people move their phone calls from one device to another. Soon, the company might let Android users move their video calls too.
What are Device Groups and how does it work
A blog post by TheSpAndroid, noticed by 9to5Google, says that Google is changing the name of a feature from "Link your devices" to "Device Groups. " This feature allows users to connect devices to a group that is connected to their Google account. They can do this during the setup process or invite devices to the group later on.
The report also includes a picture of a small window that will appear before the first time you set up the program. This pop-up will show two different ways it can be used. One feature is being able to move a live video call from one device to another.
The report did not explain how the feature will work exactly, but it might work for each app separately using the cross-device software developers kit (SDK) provided by Google on Android's developer website. Google Meet will be the first platform to use Device Groups.
The pop-up will also give you another option to share the internet when your other devices don't have internet. This feature allows users to turn on or off hotspots on a different device in the same group.
The report did not say when Google will make this feature available for Android users. However, the company is expected to make these features accessible in the near future.
